A series of lectures expounding the recent Apostolic Exhortation of Pope Francis Amoris Laetitia was held at the Redemptorist Seminary in Tuchów, Poland, on 21st April 2016. It was conducted by Prof. Vimal Tirimanna, CSsR, of the Alphonsian Academy, Rome. The issues raised by the speaker focused mainly on the unprecedented Synodal process involving the whole Church which culminated in the production of this Exhortation which was issued hardly two weeks before this day of studies. One lecture was dedicated by Prof. Tirimanna to answer the question asked frequently these days in Church circles: Can the doctrine change? He dedicated the last lecture of the day to discuss the issue of the pastoral care of the divorced persons who have entered into new civil marriages/relationships. In the intervals between the lectures, Prof. Tirimanna shared his reflections about the two Synods themselves, for which he served as an adviser (peritus) to the bishops of Asia (Federation of Asian Bishops’ Conferences – FABC). He also responded to the questions raised by the participants. Besides Redemptorist Seminary students, quite a number of invited guests took part in this day of studies, such as nuns, novices with their superiors, the Redemptorists confreres and diocesan priests.
