Here is the letter of Fr.  Michael Brehl, Superior General of CSsR:

Rome, June 15, 2016

To Redemptorist Missionaries, Sisters, Lay Associates and friends,

“At times we are called to gaze more attentively on mercy so that we may become a more effective sign of the Father’s action in our lives. For this reason, I have proclaimed an Extraordinary Jubilee of Mercy as a special time for the Church; a time when the witness of believers might grow stronger and more effective.” (MV 3).

In the spirit of this Extraordinary Jubilee of Mercy, Pope Francis has granted a plenary indulgence to all who take part in a Redemptorist Mission with a spirit of openness to God’s grace and conversion.

We just received word of this special blessing from the Sacred Penitentiary at the Vatican. The Decree, in Latin and translated into other languages, will be sent very shortly to all Redemptorist Provincials, Vice-Provincials and Regional Superiors. The Indulgence was requested by the Denver Province, but in the Decree, the Indulgence is extended to any Mission preached by the Redemptorists. I encourage Redemptorist Missionaries to make this known where we are preaching missions.

With gratitude to the Holy Father for this wonderful opportunity, we remember him in our prayers and ask the Lord to continue to bless his ministry among us. May Mary, our Mother of Perpetual Help, also accompany us in our mission to bring the Good News to the abandoned and especially the poor.

Your brother in the Redeemer,
Michael Brehl, C.Ss.R.
Superior General
