Week Three – Day 12 – Monday, Nov. 14, 2016
After three electoral ballots the 101 delegates at the General Chapter elected Fr. Alberto Eseverri from Spain as the Vicar General. Of the six Consultors, only five were eligible for this office—it must be held by a cleric and Brother Jeffrey Rolle was therefore ineligible—and since four the Consultors are new, the ballots seemed to feel out the situation. Ultimately, Fr. Alberto, one of the two Consultors re-elected onto the General Council, was given the confidence of the General Chapter. As always, we thank the Holy Spirit for the guidance and pray for Fr. Alberto’s service to the Congregation in this capacity.
