April 26, 2016, marked the 150th anniversary of the day the Icon of Our Mother of Perpetual Help was given to the Redemptorists’ Church of Sant’Alfonso, in Via Merualana, Rome. Blessed Pope Pius IX presented the Icon to the Redemptorists with the mandate that they were to promote devotion to Our Lady of Perpetual Help throughout the world. In his letter to the Congregation, the lay associates and friends of the Redemptorists, Most Rev. Fr. Mike Brehl, CSsR, Superior General of the Congregation, observed that it was the divine providence the celebration of the Jubilee year of OMPH coincided with the Extraordinary Jubilee Year of Mercy. He encouraged all the Redemptorist Family to rejuvenate the devotion to Our Mother of Perpetual Help.

To promote the devotion to Mother of Perpetual Help and to renew the commitment to the original mandate of Pope Pius IX, the Provincial superior of the Redemptorists in Vietnam asked the provincial secretariat for the Jubilee Year of OMPH, to make a documentary film on the devotion to OMPH in Vietnam from 1925, the birthday of the Redemptorists in Viet Nam, until now. Given below is the link to this documentary. The duration of the documentary is 30 minutes. The documentary narrates a short history of the Redemptorists in Vietnam and how they spread the devotion to ‘Our Mother of Perpetual Help’ in the country.
