(Jerez, Spain) – During the academic year 2018-2019 the Redemptorists of Jerez celebrate, under the motto “50 years with you: 1968-2018”, the golden anniversary of their presence in the city and the 50th anniversary of the consecration of the Parish of the Perpetual Help with various acts that try to continue to open the parish to the district of the Towers and to the entire city. It was a great moment to recall the intense missionary, social and promotional activity that was achieved for the neediest.

The celebration began on June 27, the canonical feast of the Perpetual Help, with the solemn Eucharist presided over by the Diocesan Bishop, José Mazuelos Pérez, who is closely linked to the dedication of the Mother of Perpetual Help, patron of the medical profession, and the Redemptorists, for their studies in Moral Theology that are conducted at the Alphonsian Institute in Rome.

During the academic year of 2018-2019, various events will take place to complete the anniversary celebrations, including a charity lunch to be held on November 10. The collections will be used to support the missionary and charitable work of the Redemptorists in our city.

Among other cultural initiatives, a photographic exhibition will serve as a reminder and tribute to all the people who participated in this work during the 50 years of life of the parish community, in which projects and initiatives have been realized in collaboration with the laity to promote religious, social, economic, educational and cultural progress of the slums of the Towers and the city of Jerez.

In collaboration with the Redemptorist NGO, the Association for Solidarity will also support a charity project in the third world, for which a Christmas Carols concert will take place at the Camerate of Ateneo from Jerez, on Friday 21 December at the “Parroquia de las Torres.”

All these acts, solidarity, religious, cultural and recreational activities are channels to continue to open the parish to all the people of Jerez and contribute to developing the work that 50 years ago the Redemptorists carried out in the city.
