For 28 years Radio Maryja has been reaching millions of homes in Poland and around the world. On Saturday, December 7, 2019, in Toruń, Poland, under the motto “Preaching Christ the Lord with Mary”, anniversary celebrations were held.
The celebrations started with the Angelus prayer at noon in the Sport&Recreation Hall in Toruń. Later, the faithful prayed before the Blessed Sacrament with a rosary in their hands. Then the occasional concert followed. The central point of the celebration was the Holy Mass presided over by Msgr. Wacław Depo, archbishop of Częstochowa.
President of Poland Andrzej Duda sent his letter to the gathered at the anniversary celebration. He wrote that prayer and Christian values have always been close to the Family of Radio Maryja. He also noted that the radio unites many people, its listeners, from all over the country and abroad into a real family.
Msgr. Wiesław Śmigiel, bishop of Torun, in his address thanked the Radio Maryja and its listeners for concern for the development of faith, hope and love in Christian marriages and families and for a tireless awakening of awareness that human life is a gift that should be respected and protected – from conception to natural death.
The provincial vicar of the Warsaw Province of Redemptorists, Fr. Dariusz Paszyński, C.Ss.R. in his address thanked the Family of Radio Maryja, for being true missionaries – missionaries of Jesus Christ. He thanked also his confreres and Fr. Director that they work on formation of missionaries who will proclaim Christ as the Lord, and that they are doing it together with Mary.
The Catholic broadcast station Radio Maryja was initiated 28 years ago in Torun, Poland, by Fr. Tadeusz Rydzyk C.Ss.R. who since the beginning has been directing this station. Apart of him, several Redemptorists from the Province of Warsaw are involved in media ministry through Radio Maryja and TV Trwam.
