(Hanoi, Vietnam) – The Awards Ceremony, organized by Maria Media, took place on July 26, 2020, at MIPEC building (229 Tây Sơn, Đống Đa, Hà Nội), beginning at 9:00 am.

The movie “The child of Grace” won the first prize. It is made by the “Gerard team”, a group of Redemptorist Youth Ministry in the northern of Vietnam (RYM Mien Bac). It also won AWARD FOR BEST DIRECTOR.

It is about the story of a young couple. They got married and the wife got pregnant as a normal family. However, the doctors said that the unborn baby had chromosomal abnormalities or disability. The young couple faced a great challenge whether they should keep the child or get rid of by abortion. They disagreed with each other and finally, through the intercession of St. Gerard, they came to a happy ending.

This is the first time, a catholic movie festival is held in Vietnam by Maria Media (an independent catholic media group). There were 10 teams registering at this event.

Fr Joseph Tran Huu Hoan, the chaplain of RYM Mien Bac, said: “Our team members are not professional actors and actresses but we try our best to promote the message to youths: Life is valuable.”

Congratulations RYM Mien Bac and Gerard Team!
