Pope Francis in his letter, on the occasion of the institution of the World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation, expresses his desire to offer a contribution “to resolving the ecological crisis which humanity is presently experiencing,” a crisis that calls us to a deep ecological conversion.

The decision 12 of the XXV General Chapter called us to “promote ecologically supportive themes in our various apostolic works and celebrations.” Thus, this year during the month of September (The month dedicated to Care for Creation) is an opportunity for us to strengthen this ecological consciousness within the Congregation, as a part of the proclamation of the Plentiful Redemption of Christ the Redeemer.

The annual World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation offers individual believers and communities a fitting opportunity to reaffirm their personal vocation to be stewards of creation, to thank God for the wonderful handiwork which he has entrusted to our care, and to implore his help for the protection of creation as well as his pardon for the sins committed against the world in which we live.

Fr. Ivel Mendanha, CSsR, has been kind enough to share with us a Holy Hour on the Theme of Care for the Earth for the first Friday to be prayed in September, the Month of Creation. Kindly find the attached PDF to be circulated among the confreres and friends of the Redemptorist family.

From September 1 to October 4, 2020, our Holy Father, Pope Francis has called the Universal Church to celebrate a ‘Season of Creation.’ At OLPS Church, Chembur, Mumbai, we have decided to start the Season of Creation by having this Eucharistic Adoration during which we pray for, and reflect on Creation. The reflections in this Eucharistic Adoration are based on Pope Francis’ Encyclical Laudato Si.

Eucharistic Adoration (Holy Hour) – Praying for Creation, available from 7.00am onwards on Friday, 4 September 2020
