Four new deacons of the Congregation of the Most Holy Redeemer, CSsR, were ordained this Saturday in the Parish of Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Madrid. They are Carlos A. Diego, Álvaro Ortiz, Guillermo Javier Rejas and Joaquín García-Romanillos. The celebration was presided over by Cardinal Carlos Osoro, Archbishop of Madrid, who said that “this pandemic has made us rethink life in another way, and we have entered into the paradigm of care”. According to Osoro, “the Lord has invited us to take care of others and, especially, of those who need it most”.

“The deacons have to fulfil their new task of serving the poor with generosity.” Moreover, according to the Archbishop of Madrid, “the service to the poor we must do it by being generous and giving everything to others.” In the words of Osoro, “to be great is to be a servant to go where I am sent and needed”.

For his part, the Provincial Superior of the Redemptorist Missionaries, Francisco Javier Caballero, thanked the Redemptorist family that “in the heart of the Church no one is left out or left behind”. He also affirmed that “it is important to recognize life as God’s plan” and that “embraced by Mary we are grateful for the gift of life and the Resurrection”.

Finally, the deacons also thanked God for their religious vocation and their families “for their unconditional support along the way”.
