(India) On 23rd March 2021, we Redemptorists celebrated the 150th anniversary of the proclamation of Saint Alphonsus Maria de Liguori as a Doctor of the Church. On this blessed occasion, Pope Francis issued a letter to Fr. General in which he noted that this Doctor of the Church was a “listener,” a teacher of mercy and a person who welcomed “the fragility of the most spiritually abandoned men and women.” In this wonderful anniversary year, as we draw near to the Feast of St. Alphonsus, we at the Redemptorist Media Center, on behalf of the Province of Bangalore, India, are organizing a “Global Online Novena to St. Alphonsus.”

This international online Novena, will begin on the 23rd of July and will continue for nine days leading up to August 1st – the Feast of St. Alphonsus. We have networked with Confreres across the globe to truly make this into an international celebration of our Charism.  Here is a line-up of the topics which will be reflected upon and the confreres who will be contributing with inspiring reflections for us all.

This Novena is a wonderful way for us as one Missionary Body to reflect on and benefit from the enduring legacy which God has granted to our Congregation through St. Alphonsus. This Doctor of the Church has bequeathed us a charism that is ever-relevant. It is a charism that still inspires and motivates young people to join us in many parts of the world. It is a charism that unites all Redemptorists in solidarity together with our associate religious Sister Congregations and lay partners in the Mission. May this online celebration of faith inspire us to a renewed participation in the mission of proclaiming plentiful Redemption to the poor and most abandoned. We invite as many of our confreres from across the globe to participate and promote this event. Subscribe to our YouTube channel for the latest updates. https://www.youtube.com/RMCBangalore

Wish you all a very fruitful and grace-filled feast of St. Alphonsus Maria de Liguori.
