The XVII Meeting of San Alfonso and the V Iberian Meeting of Lay Redemptorists

(Spain) This afternoon begins the XVII Meeting of San Alfonso (online) and the V Iberian Meeting of Lay Redemptorists. The event will be attended by Francisco J. Caballero , Provincial Superior of the Redemptorist Missionaries; Marciano Vidal , CSsR, and José Cristo Rey García Paredes , Claretian missionary.

The virtual meeting, which is organized in this way to comply with the health security measures for the Coronavirus, has been divided into two days. The first will begin today at 6:30 p.m., with the opening prayer by the person in charge of the Arch-Confraternities of Perpetual Help (Fr. Domingo Sánchez); and at 7:00 p.m., the presentation and contextualization of the meeting will take place, by Francisco J. Caballero.

Later, at 7:30 p.m., Marciano Vidal, CSsR will speak about ‘San Alfonso: 150th Anniversary of the declaration of Doctor of the Church’. And the day will end with an evening prayer by the Granada community.

On the other hand, the XVII Meeting of San Alfonso and V Iberian Meeting of Laity Redemptorists will continue this Thursday, July 29, at 6:30 p.m., with a prayer by the Seville community and, at 7:00 p.m., José Cristo Rey García Paredes, Claretian missionary and theologian, will speak on ‘Spirituality in times of pandemic’.

At 8:00 p.m. the virtual act is scheduled to close with the evening prayer that has been prepared by the community of Madrid. Next Sunday, August 1, the feast of Saint Alphonsus, founder of the Congregation of the Most Holy Redeemer, patron of confessors and moralists, and doctor of the Church for 150 years, is celebrated.
