With the launch scheduled for August 28, 2021, the new book appears as a fruit of a collective work of dozens of people. The book expresses the effort to reconstruct the history and keep the memory of the rich experience done by the Congregation of the Most Holy Redeemer and Province São Paulo regarding the seminary formation in Sacramento, Minas Gerais, Brazil. The book covers the Seminary of Sacramento history from its foundation in 1959, described by Father Antônio Borges de Souza C.Ss.R., until its closure, which took place in 2001.
With the title “HISTORIES AND MEMOIRS OF THE SEMINARY SANTÍSSIMO REDENTOR DE SACRAMENTO, MG – “Views of those who were there”, this book with more than 400 pages, presents the readers with testimonies, narratives, evaluations, evaluations, and considerations of formators, parish priests, brothers, students and collaborators who lived in the Seminary Most Holy Redeemer or, who in some way were related to the community, becoming people involved and members of the history of this House of Formation.
This work not only carries with it enormous affectivity and the joy of longing but is imbued with Redemptorist mysticism and spirituality, the missionary character of the sons of St. Alphonsus and the added value (added character, walking together, having participation and communion and vision of the mission) for the Congregation of the Most Holy Redeemer, strengthening also the role of the Redemptorist lay person, based on the knowledge acquired and placed at the service of the community.
The organisers of this work, published by Editora Alta Performance, are Alfonso Cavalcanti, José Roberto Staliano, Sebastião Paim, Rosangela Aparecida Nogueira, Vânia Beatriz Manzan and Vicente de Paula Alves, the creator of this project.
It is intended that this book will reach the hands of the confreres of all the Redemptorist Communities of Brazil and the world, of the students who have passed through that House of Formation and others, and the knowledge of the General Government of the Redemptorist Congregation. Perhaps one could suggest that this book be the first of many others possible and necessary to tell the rich and wonderful story of the numerous Houses of Formation of the Redemptorist Fathers and Brothers throughout the world.
