On Wednesday, December 8, on the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception, the Redemptorist Missionaries Cristian Mauricio Aza Hernández and Oscar David Tarazona Trujillo were ordained as priests. The ordaining bishop was Monsignor Noel Antonio Londoño Buitrago, C.Ss.R., Bishop of Jericho (Antioquia).
The liturgy occurred in the Parish of St. Alphonsus Maria de Ligorio (Bogotá). Preset were the Provincial Superior and his Council, some Redemptorists, diocesan priests, religious, relatives and friends of the new priests. St. Alfonso Major Seminary (Bogotá) students animated the liturgy with the choir and service at the altar.
Monsignor Noel invited the ordained not to forget their prophetic and priestly vocation by comparing it to the service at the table. The priestly vocation is part of the DNA, it is the property of the Lord, who has given it freely and how the Virgin Mary understood this gratuitousness in the call that God gave her. Finally, he invited them to persevere in their mission and not forget their evangelical witness in the world.
Let us give thanks to God for the vocation of these new ministers of the Church. May they experience the company of our Mother of Perpetual Help on their journey and the example of St. Alphonsus Maria de Liguori.
