(BACLARAN, Philippines) Hundreds of devotees attended the Solidarity Mass for the Moral Vote at the National Shrine of Our Mother of Perpetual Help (Baclaran Church) on April 6, 2022, ahead of the country’s national elections on May 9, 2022. The mass was presided over by Cardinal Jose F. Advincula, Archbishop of Manila, concelebrated by 12 bishops and 180 priests from the different dioceses and religious congregations.

In his homily, Bishop Pablo Virgilio David, Bishop of Kalookan and CBCP President, urged Filipinos to uphold the country’s future by contributing themselves to changing the culture in politics. As Christians, it is our responsibility to God to choose right and choose according to conscience. People have to discern what is especially true amidst the proliferation of fake news and historical revisionism. He encouraged the people to support candidates who are makadiyos (for God), makatao (for the people), makabayan (for the country), makakalikasan (for creation) and makabuhay (for life).
