On the eve of the feast of the Most Holy Redeemer, 16th July 2022, six novices from Kenya made their first commitment in our house at Nairobi, Kenya, in the presence of a number of Redemptorist confreres, priests, religious priests and sisters, and the family and friends of confreres. It was indeed a very colourful and meaningful event with traditional African dance and singing.

Fr. Paul Pazhangattu, C.Ss.R., the Mission Superior, accepted the vows of the newly professed by reason of legitimate delegation. Along with the confreres from Kenya, the presence of Fr. Noel Sottima, C.Ss.R., the Coordinator of Conference of Africa-Madagascar, and Fr. Sandeep Menezes, C.Ss.R. from Bangalore, India, and three novices from Ghana gave an international colour to the whole function.

With the newly professed members, we have this year in the Mission of Kenya: 12 priests, 8 temporary professed students (Theology), 4 novices, 15 pre-novices (Philosophy) and 9 candidates (Orientation Year). The next batch of novices will have their novitiate in the common novitiate at Merrivale, South Africa. They will be joining with the brothers from Zimbabwe.

We thank for the prayers and good wishes received from the Superior General, General Consultors, Provincial Superior and his consultors and confreres from India and COREAM on this gracious occasion.

Fr. Paul Pazhangattu, C.Ss.R.
Mission Superior, Kenya
