On Monday, August 29, our confrere Stanislav Marcin CSsR was ordained a deacon by Bishop Mons. Ján Kuboš. Stanislav spent a part of his novitiate in Poland and had a pastoral experience in London.

The confreres from our Slovak and Czech communities gathered in the Redemptorist monastery church in Podolínec (Slovakia), where the ordination took place, Stanislav’s family and natives from Raslavice, parishioners and friends from Podolínec and other places, members of the lay missionary communities Rieka Života and Shekinah joined the celebration.

In his homily, Bishop Kuboš developed the idea that a deacon is ordained for service since the Greek word diakonos means servant or minister. The Eucharist was followed by agape in the corridors of the monastery and a festive lunch. Brother Stanislav will serve as a deacon in the Redemptorist community in Banská Bystrica – Radvaň. There he will work as a teacher of a catholic religion at school and will be involved in a lay missionary community.
