(Bengaluru, India) The sun shone brightly and the new building decorated like a bride stood majestically welcoming everyone. It is not coincidental, but it was in the plan of God that St. Alphonsus Academy turn over a new leaf in history by having the new college building erected on the third floor. The new block of St. Alphonsus PU College was inaugurated on the 21st of December 2022. This inaugural ceremony was a moment of pride and celebration for the Management, staff, students, and parents. It was a time to thank God for being with the college management throughout the construction of the building.
Dr. Peter Machado, the Archbishop of Bengaluru, led us in prayer and blessed the exterior and interiors of the building, and also inaugurated the building by cutting the ribbon.
Rev. Fr. Edward Joseph, C.Ss.R, Provincial Superior, Province of the Redemptorist congregation, Bengaluru, felicitated the Engineer, the Contractor, and the Supervisor of the building. He also appreciated the hard labor of the construction workers and the staff for their commitment and dedicated service in the field of education.
The college had its humble beginning with 56 students in 2020 and has now over 230 students and 12 staff. Recalling the blessings and struggles in coming to the present status of the college, we can reiterate that “Today is a time to acknowledge and celebrate our proud history – a legacy of acting in faith and courage, leaving the shores of what’s known and comfortable, and pioneering in search of and in service to a higher good. May God be glorified.”
After a beautiful prayer ritual of blessing led by the Archbishop of Bengaluru, the chief guest and students were entertained by a well-presented cultural program by the students. It was evident from the performance of the students that they receive an all-round education in this prestigious portal of learning with the efficient leadership of our Manager and Principal, Dr. Rev. Fr. John Mathew, and a committed cadet of staff.
The entire function was also in acknowledgment and gratitude for all who contributed to the growth of the college in various ways: the management, staff, students, and parent body, and everyone who were a part of actualizing the dream of St. Alphonsus PU College.
Dr. Fr. John Mathew, CSsR.
