With joy, the Province of Rio welcomed the new deacon of the Church, Marcos Antônio Azevedo Carvalho, C.Ss.R.!
The celebration of the Deacon Ordination took place at the Shrine of San José, in Belo Horizonte (MG), on the morning of Sunday, 12 March 2023, when the young man publicly expressed his desire to assume this ministry, consecrating himself to the service of the Church, by the grace of the Holy Spirit and the imposition of the hands of Mgr Darci José Nicioli, C.Ss.R., Archbishop of Diamantina (MG).
The new deacon will exercise his ministry in the Parish of the Holy Family, in Cariacica (ES), and is preparing for his Priestly Ordination, which will take place on 22 July, in Guaçuí.
Perpetual Profession
One day before his diaconal ordination, on the evening of Saturday, 11 March, Marco Antônio made his perpetual profession to God in the Redemptorist Congregation, following Christ the Saviour more closely.
The Solemn Mass was held in the Shrine of São José, in Belo Horizonte (MG), presided by the Provincial of Rio, Fr Nelson Antonio Linhares, C.Ss.R., and concelebrated by several Redemptorist Missionaries.
– I freely choose the Christian life marked by the evangelical counsels, taking the vows of chastity, poverty and obedience for life, as well as the vow and oath of perseverance, according to the spirit and norms of the Congregation of the Most Holy Redeemer.
I also commit myself in this Congregation, founded by Saint Alphonsus primarily to evangelise the poor, to faithfully lead a fraternal life full of apostolic charity.
