As part of the celebrations of the Jubilee Year commemorating 80 years of the Redemptorist Presence in Manaus, the pilgrimage of the Missionary Cross through Amazonia began.

Fr. Amarildo Luciano, Vice-Provincial of the Redemptorists of Amazonia, with a group of lay people, began this journey which, as seen in the programme, passes through some cities and missionary places through which the Redemptorist presence has passed on this Amazonian soil.

The Redemptorist Vice-Province of Manaus officially inaugurated the opening of the Jubilee Year on 19 November 2022 with a celebration at the Shrine of Our Lady of Aparecida, bringing together Redemptorist priests and brothers, Redemptorist seminarians, men and women religious, as well as lay people and women who work in parishes where there is a Redemptorist presence.

The Holy Mass was presided over by Fr. Amarildo Luciano and concelebrated by Msgr. Gutemberg Régis, Bishop Emeritus of the Diocese of Coari. It was a moment of celebration and gratitude for this long history of faith built with the Amazonian people since the arrival of the first Redemptorist missionaries in 1943. The Missionary Cross was presented on occasion.
