On the memorial of Saint Athanasius, the Redemptorist Vice-Province D’Afrique de L’Ouest and Vice-Province of Nigeria rejoiced as Seven Redemptorists Novices were invested in the Habit on Tuesday 2, May 2023, at the Common Novitiate Community, Ghana (Ejisu-Kubease). It was a very special moment in their vocational journey. After spending some months in the novitiate with their novice master, they were given an “Identity” of the Redemptorists as our brothers decerning their religious vocation.
In the homily, Rev Fr. SEYDOU Ibrahim, the Vicar (Vice- Provincial) of the Redemptorists of Afrique de l’Ouest, who presided over the Eucharistic Celebration, invited the Seven Novices who were invested with the Redemptorists Habit not to forget “Who they are” as a Redemptorists. He added that our Identity as a Redemptorist helps us to know where we come from, who we are, and where we are going. Lastly, He said that by wearing the Redemptorist’s Habit, they are wearing Christ Himself.
The celebration was graced by the presence of some of our Council Members as well as the Student Body, who came to pray and celebrate with our Novices on this special occasion. After the Celebration, the Superior of the Community, Rev. Fr. Pascal Wendpuire Tiendrebeogo C.Ss.R., thanked Fr. Ibrahim for accepting to officiate this great and memorable occasion.
As usual, after the Mass, the newly invested Novices were the center of celebration and were thus joined by others for photoshoots in which all beamed with broad smiles – all to the greater glory of God!
We thank all who in diverse ways through prayers and support continue to journey with our brothers. We thank Fr. Noel Eshikena C.Ss.R who was the Novice Master to our brothers in their spiritual journey for some months before his appointment as Vicar of the Vice-Province of Nigeria. We also thank Fr OUASSA Minama Ghislain Martial (Novice Master), for all he is doing for the Novitiate here in Ghana.
Br. Dennis Opoku Kusi, C.Ss.R.
