On Pentecost Sunday, May 28th, 2023, during Divine Liturgy at St. Joseph’s Ukrainian Catholic Church, our Br. Ivan Dzhur, C.Ss.R. professed his Final Vows together with the Vow and an Oath of Perseverance as a Redemptorist before the Provincial Superior of Canadian Province – Rev. Fr. Michael Smolinski, C.Ss.R. who was assisted by Fr. Charles Duval, C.Ss.R. and Fr. John Sianchuk, C.Ss.R.
In his homily, Fr. Michael referred to a vowed life as “a perpetually/ habitually relaxed grasp on people, things and power” and that it invites us to “to cling to nothing, to hold everything even the best of holy things with a relaxed grasp.” Finally, he invited Ivan to trust the gentle guidance of the Holy Spirit – the bestower of gifts – who will make his life as a gift to God’s people.
