(India) Redemptorists in India witnessed another historical event on 9th June 2023. It was the day of the inauguration of the Joint Novitiate of the three units of India (Province of Bengaluru, Province of Liguori, and Vice-Province of Majella) at Kunnambetta, Kerala, India. All the three provincials, some confreres from three units and the new novices were present on the occasion.
The inauguration took place during the Eucharistic celebration presided over by the three Provincial superiors. The decree of an erection was read out by Fr. Poly Kannampuzha, the Provincial Superior of the Liguori Province, which was followed by the lighting of the lamp.
Fr. Edward, the Provincial Superior of the Bangalore Province was the main celebrant, and Fr. Henry Fernandez preached the homily where he spoke about the importance of perseverance even in the midst of suffering that one faces in religious life.
It was indeed a great moment of blessing for the Redemptorists in India, and we believe that although we belong to three different provinces and perhaps different rites, we are truly one family and that we are brothers to one another.
