On Saturday, 26th August 2023, in the Diocese of Ho in the Volta Region of Ghana, a ceremony of ordination took place at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church under the guidance of the Diocesan Bishop, Most Reverend Emmanuel Kofi Fianu, SVD. Among those ordained was our esteemed Redemptorist confrere, Michael Torwoe CSsR.

In his homily, the Bishop reminded these five candidates that they are representatives of Christ the Good Shepherd, and as such, they ought to imitate him, even to the extent of “tending to their flock.” Furthermore, he urged the candidates to dedicate time to reflecting on the Word of God and to seek the guidance of the Good Shepherd in their ministry.

Lastly, the Bishop encouraged the candidates not just to be instructors, but to be living examples and genuine role models. Their ministry should stand as an illustration for the people of God to follow. By being exemplars, they can effectively draw people closer to Christ, the good shepherd.

Celebrating with our brother, a delegation from the Vice-Province was sent to witness this noteworthy occasion. Our newly ordained had the honour of celebrating his Thanksgiving Mass in his hometown at St. Anthony R.C. Church in Hlefi. The delegation also participated in the felicitation services.

The newly ordained, Rev. Fr. Michael Torwoe CSsR expressed his gratitude to God for the precious gift of the priesthood. He also extended his heartfelt thanks to the Congregation of the Most Holy Redeemer, as well as to the Vice-Provincial Superior, Rev. Father Nobila Olivier SAWADOGO CSsR, and his advisors for their unwavering prayers and support throughout his initial formation with the Redemptorists.
