The Inter Mirifica Decree of the Second Vatican Council turned 60 on Monday 4 December 2023. The text deals with the media and marks the first time that the Church addresses the topic in its documents.
On the occasion of the date, a meeting of the communication teams of the Church in Brazil took place (Pastoral da Comunicação, Signis Brasil – radio and TV -, Episcopal Commission for Communication and Consultative Commission on Communication of the National Conference of Bishops of Brazil (CNBB).
The Catholic-inspired Brazilian television stations also participated in the meeting: TV Aparecida, TV Evangelizer, Canção Nova, TV Imaculada, TV Pai Eterno, TV Horizonte, TV Nazaré, TV Século 21 and TV Bom Jesus da Lapa, and the Catholic radio stations.
The participants also reflected on the Synod on Synodality, Jubilee 2025, Jubilee 2031 – Guadalupe, Jubilee 2033 – Death and Resurrection of Jesus, 55th World Communications Day, 8th Pascom Meeting, 61st CNBB AG, Fraternity Campaign 2024 (60 years) and 2025 and Evangelization Campaign 2023.
The radio meeting took place in the morning and the television meeting in the afternoon, with the participation of the most important bishops in the communication of the Church in Brazil. Father Inácio, Bruna Pereira and José Eduardo represented Rádio Aparecida. In addition to a rich moment of reflection, sharing, exchange of experiences and gathering of challenges and expectations, the preparation of the Church’s action in Brazil for the coming years has also begun.

RADIO APARECIDA
The history of Rádio Aparecida begins in 1937, when the Redemptorist Missionaries realized the importance of the radio as an important means of communication for pastoral service. The idea matured until the station was created on September 8, 1951, with the goal of announcing the Gospel of Christ through the airwaves.
From the beginning, Rádio Aparecida has offered programming with training, good music, information and evangelization, broadcasting daily on Short wave, Tropical wave and FM. With this, Rádio Aparecida has a consolidated history in its aim of being a competent, professional and credible broadcaster, guaranteeing quality programming to its listeners for 70 years.
TV APPEARED
With a history of work, dedication and good results, TV APARECIDA has been on the air for 18 years and stands out among the 14 largest television networks in Brazil in terms of coverage, according to ANATEL. The station is part of the Rede Aparecida de Comunicação group, also composed of Rádio Aparecida and the A12 portal.
