On Saturday, December 2, 2023, Toruń celebrated the 32nd anniversary of the founding of Radio Maryja. The main point of the anniversary celebrations was the Holy Mass presided over by Archbishop Wacław Depo, Metropolitan of Częstochowa. The event was broadcast by TV Trwam and Radio Maryja.

Listeners who wanted to thank God for Radio Maryja arrived in Toruń in the morning. The pilgrims visited the headquarters of Toruń Radio on Żwirki i Wigury Street, but also went to the Sanctuary of the Blessed Virgin Mary Star of the New Evangelization and St. John Paul II.

– Radio Maryja is my whole life. I have been listening to some of it in the evening for 32 years, even when I was working in Belarus, it was a sister from Poznan who called me and said: “Listen to Radio Maryja”. I do it with joy. I am at the anniversary of Radio Maryja for the first time, but for 32 years I have been thanking God for this miracle, the phenomenon of the Madonna, of Father Tadeusz and the Redemptorist Fathers”, – said Sister Józefa of the congregation of the Missionary Sisters of Christ the King.

The main celebrations of Radio Maryja’s 32nd anniversary took place in the Sports and Entertainment Hall in Torun. At 12.00 the meditation began in person, followed by the recitation of the Rosary by the faithful. The prayer of the Rosary was followed by a concert by the “Mazowsze” song and dance ensemble. At 3.00 pm the pilgrims recited the Chaplet of Divine Mercy.

Before the start of the Mass, the director of Radio Maryja, Father Tadeusz Rydzyk CSsR, addressed the gathered people. The Eucharist then began, presided over by Archbishop Wacław Depo, Metropolitan of Częstochowa.

– Mary, star of the new evangelization, the dawn of the new world, we pray to you with the words of John Paul II: “Grant to all believers in your Son to be able to openly and courageously announce the Gospel of Life. Show yourself to us as the mother of unshakable hope and watch over us all. Mary, with you we say: “Come, Lord Jesus!” – Archbishop Wacław Depo indicated in his homily.

President Andrzej Duda addressed a letter to the participants of the celebrations of the 32nd anniversary of Radio Maryja, which was read by the Head of the Chancellery of the President of the Republic of Poland. Monsignor Wiesław Śmigiel, bishop of the Diocese of Toruń, also addressed the assembly with his words.

– The Catholic media are one of the guarantors of pluralism and the search for truth about man, the world and the Church. In his teaching, Pope Francis warns modern man against various forms of totalitarianism and ideological colonization, which seek to flatten reality and deprive man of a living faith in God. The cure for this world is the courageous search for truth, discussion with arguments, avoiding aggression, lies, and hatred and trying to build bridges rather than constantly ignite the spirit of war and revenge. Unfortunately, the modern world is full of tensions, conflicts and violent wars. We would very much like peace and a spirit of prudent concern for the common good to reign in our homeland, which is called Poland. Catholic media should help in this sense, since they are guided by the principle of service to God, to the Fatherland and to humanity”, – indicated the Ordinary of the Diocese of Toruń.

At the end of the Eucharist, Father Dariusz Paszyński CSsR, Superior of the Warsaw Province of the Redemptorists, addressed a word to the pilgrims, thanking them for their commitment to the work of evangelization and encouraging them to work together for the common good.
