The Redemptorist missionary, Father Edilei Rosa, CSsR, from the Campo Grande region, was elected with 74 votes to serve for three years. The electoral assembly continues in Curitiba from 4 to 8 December. The provincial will have to lead the 126 members of the unit.

The new provincial was chosen from a group of nine Redemptorist missionaries proposed in two votes before the assembly, held in Curitiba/PR. On Wednesday 6 December, in the third vote, the Redemptorist missionary, Father Edilei Rosa, CSsR, was the priest chosen by the group for this great mission. The member of the electoral commission, Father Edézio Borges, CSsR, asked the elected confrere if he was available and Father Edilei willingly accepted.

In his speech, Father Edilei highlighted the availability of service in the congregation, particularly in the province of Curitiba. “Availability is important to the mission. You can count on my availability. It’s not a privilege at all. It is a service for the benefit of the brothers. You take care of God’s people and I try to take care of my brothers. I’m working on the new unit. Thank you for your trust,” he said.

Immediately, the General Government, in a meeting, had to decide whether to approve the Redemptorist missionary for the position. The response was positive.

Father Edilei Rosa Silva, CSsR was born in Ivaiporã/PR (Brazil) on 23 October 1979. He is 44 years old. He took his first vows as a Redemptorist Missionary on 21 January 2007 and was ordained a priest on 4 December 2010. He was a vocation promoter, formator and provincial superior of the extinct Province of Campo Grande.
