In the common room of Casa San Alfonso in Rome, on 27/03/2024, the contract for the renovation of the House was signed. Father Vicente Soria Fleitas, C.Ss.R., the Economo General and Legal Representative, signed the document of Contract on behalf of the General Curia of the Congregation of the Most Holy Redeemer; it was also signed by Mr Domenico Ruggieri on behalf of the company that will carry out the project, RUGGIERI MARIO SRL. Present were Rev. Fr. Giovanni Congiu, C.Ss.R., Rector of Casa San Alfonso, and the architect Giacomo Cajano Saffi, one of the directors of the project. Also present were the Congregation lawyers Gianlorenzo Marinucci and Saverio Marinucci.

The signing of the contract is a very important step in the process for the renovation of the house because it was not easy to obtain authorisation from the Ministry of Culture, Superintendent of Special Archaeological Works, and the Municipality of Rome for the realisation of this work. It was a long process made up of meetings, studies, preparation of projects, procedures and the search for alternatives to obtaining the permit. The construction phase is now underway.

According to the work schedule, work will begin on 8/04/2024 and end on 3/01/2025. Unfortunately, during the renovations, guests will not be able to stay in the house, and some annual activities and meetings will not be held, such as the Redemptorist spirituality course and other meetings of secretariats and commissions serving the mission of the Congregation.

The Casa San Alfonso is an important part of the History of the Congregation of the Most Holy Redeemer. It currently houses the General Curia, the Pontifical Alphonsian Academy, the Collegio Maggiore, the General Archives, the Historical Institute, and the Library. It is a house that is at the service of the entire Congregation.

It is worth mentioning that the Superior General, on 27/01/2023, appointed a Commission for the Restructuring of the Casa San Alfonso for the sexennium 2023-2028, composed of: Rev. Fr. Franciszek Stanula, C.Ss.R. Vicar General, Rev. Fr. Giovanni Congiu, C.Ss.R., Rector of Casa San Alfonso, Fr. Vicente Soria Fleitas, C.Ss.R. General Economo, Rev. Fr. Antonio Pupo, C.Ss.R., Bursar of Casa San Alfonso and R.P. Ronival Dos Reis, C.Ss.R., Prefect of the Shrine of Perpetual Succour in Rome. This Commission continues the work begun by the previous Commission from the last Sexennium.

Fr. Vicente Soria Fleitas, CSSR.
