On March 16, 2024, the diaconate ordination of Álvaro Humberto Flores Paredes, Erick Yasmani Callaú Unari and Luis Fernando Rivero Lurici took place in the parish of La Candelaria in Tupiza, Potosí (Bolivia). They had professed their perpetual vows on 15th of March.
Before the provincial superior of the new province of Bolivia Peru, Fr. Boris Rafael Calzadilla Arteaga, CSsR, the 3 brothers took vows of poverty, chastity and obedience in the Congregation founded by Saint Alphonsus Liguori on March 15 in an emotional ceremony full of faithful who prayed for the perseverance` of the new religious.
In a public letter from these 3 brothers, we read: “We thank God for the perpetual profession we made today, on this day we said YES to his plan which has become our plan for life. We also thank the superior of the Bolivia-Peru province, of which we are part and, as a historical fact, today the three of us are the first Redemptorists in this province to perpetually profess.”
On March 16, through the imposition of hands of the bishop of the diocese of Potosí, Monsignor Nicolás Renán Aguilera Arroyo, the newly professed received the ministry of the diaconate. In his homily, Bishop Aguilera Arroyo said: “Here I am, Lord, not to do my will, but yours. This is what they said to our God. This is why you must know how to get on your knees before the Lord to know God’s will. This will give us the ability to listen to our people and be able to serve the little ones, the poor. It will be an effective service because it will be a response to God’s love.”
“Live the experience of God’s love to be able to give that experience to others.”
At the end of the celebration, the community of Tupiza asked for prayers for the new deacons under the protection of Our Lady of Perpetual Help.
