On the outskirts of Fada N’Gourma, Burkina Faso, a ray of hope shines brightly amidst the challenges of armed conflicts and displacement. The Saint Alphonse Complex School (COSAF) Project, initiated by the Redemptorist Vice Province of West Africa in partnership with the Redemptorist Solidarity Office (RSO), embodies a vision of education as a transformative force, empowering underprivileged children and fostering community resilience in the face of adversity.

The Redemptorist Solidarity Office (RSO) is a resource office of The Redemptorist Congregation dedicated to supporting development projects, pastoral programs, peace-building initiatives, and capacity building in Redemptorist Units, with a priority focus on supporting Redemptorist initiatives, particularly in Africa and Madagascar. The vision of the RSO is to support Redemptorist Units and partners in their service of ensuring that nobody is left behind. One of the RSO’s priorities for 2024 is the construction of the Saint Alphonse School Complex (COSAF), a primary school in the rural commune of Fada N’Gourma, Burkina Faso, to provide education for underprivileged children displaced by armed conflicts in the Sahel region, where the Redemptorists in West Africa conduct their missionary work.

The successful completion of the first phase of the COSAF project marked a significant milestone, with the construction of three classrooms, an office, a storeroom, and toilet blocks. However, much remains to be done to fully realize the potential of this transformative initiative. The second phase of the COSAF Project is crucial to achieving its mission of providing quality education and essential services to underprivileged children. The construction of additional infrastructure, including a school canteen to offer meals for the poorest children and an infirmary for first aid, will not only meet the growing demand for education in the region but also provide a promising future for displaced children. The RSO has raised over 75% of the funds for this phase 2 and still calls for your solidarity to support this important initiative.

Despite the challenges posed by security instability in the region, the determination to pursue the mission of the COSAF Project remains unwavering. Education is not just a fundamental right; it is a powerful tool for breaking the cycle of poverty and violence. As such, the RSO humbly asks for your support to make this vital project a reality.

The Saint Alphonse Complex School stands as a symbol of resilience and possibility. With your support, we can turn dreams into reality, providing a brighter future for the children of Fada N’Gourma, Burkina Faso. Join us in building a legacy of education, empowerment, and opportunity. Together, let us sow the seeds of change and nurture a world where every child has the chance to thrive.
