The Redemptorist community of San Luis Potosi hosted the Provincial Assembly 2024, a meeting between members of the Mexican province and the Superior General, Fr Rogério Gomes, CSsR, from 20 to 24 May 2024, to reflect on the formation and its challenges in today’s world.
The Assembly, entitled “Formation for Formators”, provided a space for reflection, questions and concerns. These encounters fostered dialogue among the participants on key issues for the missionary development of our country and the conference.
One of the highlights was “Who am I as a vocationed formator?” This talk provided a deep reflection on the origin of one’s vocation, the starting point of one’s concerns, how one shares one’s convictions with the new generations, and what language one uses.
Fr. Rogério Gomes addressed the theme “Youth and its challenges,” highlighting the challenges faced by the different communities of the province in the current context. He also pointed out the urgency of responding adequately to the new young people interested in starting the vocation discernment process with us. Furthermore, he mentioned that restructuring is an unstoppable phenomenon, and we must assume it with calm and freedom.
The Assembly made one thing clear: it is important that all Redemptorists are ready for ongoing formation. This is essential for sharing the Gospel with enthusiasm and creativity with the most abandoned.
