Slovakia: The Redemptorists have two new priests

On Saturday, June 22, the two Redemptorist deacons Pavel Hudousek CSsR and Lukáš Michalovič CSsR, members of the Bratislava-Prague Province, were ordained priests by Msgr. Stanislav Přibyl CSsR, the bishop of Litoměřice. The ordinations were held in the Basilica of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary on Svatá Hora in Příbram, Czech Republic.

Monsignor Stanislav Přibyl CSsR, in his homily recalled the words of Jesus: “I have called you friends.” He invited candidates for ordination to embrace this friendship of Jesus and to preserve it throughout their lives as the most precious treasure. And he added: “We Redemptorists, priests of Christ the Redeemer, have the mandate to proclaim this great friendship of God in Christ, through whom we have been redeemed from sin and death and chosen for salvation, that is, for eternal friendship with God.”

For Msgr. Stanislav, consecrated bishop in March this year, was the first time to confer priestly ordination to about 30 priests and brothers from the province of Bratislava – Prague, the vice-province of Michalovce, the province of Warsaw, Lviv and Europe – South were present at the ceremony.

The new priest, Don Lukáš Michalovič, celebrated his first Mass on Sunday 23 June 2024 in the church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in Bratislava – Kramáre (Slovakia). The newly ordained priest Don Pavel Hudousek will celebrate his first Mass on Saturday 29 June 2024 in the Church of St. George in Kostelec nad Orlicí (Czech Republic).

First Mass of Fr. Lukáš Michalovič CSsR

Pavel Hudousek is from Kostelce d’Orlicí. He began his formation in the Redemptorist Congregation in 2015 and after a year of novitiate in Lubaszowa, Poland, he took temporary vows of chastity, poverty and obedience on August 15, 2019. He completed his studies at the University’s Faculty of Theology of Trnava in June 2023 and made his final vows on 13 August 2023. After his diaconate ordination on 15 August 2023, he worked in the Redemptorist community of Frýdek. He will begin his priestly ministry in July in the Redemptorist community at the pilgrimage site of Svatá Hora in Příbram.

Lukáš Michalovič, from Prievidza, began his formation in the Congregation in 2016. He professed the temporary vows of chastity, poverty and obedience on August 15, 2019, after the novitiate in Lubaszowa, Poland. After completing his degree at the Faculty of Theology of Trnava University, he continued to study for a year at the Pontifical Lateran University in Rome. He took his vows on August 15, 2022. He completed his Master’s studies at the Faculty of Theology of Trnava University in June 2024. He served as a deacon in the community of the Redemptorist Student House in Bratislava. At the end of August, he will begin his priestly ministry in the Redemptorist community of Kaunas, Lithuania.
