The Oblates of the Most Holy Redeemer of the European Province (Spain, Italy and Portugal), presented the annual report on prostitution and trafficking in which they disclose the data resulting from the global intervention and accompaniment carried out with the women assisted in 2023 in their projects prepared for that year.

The purpose of this report is to make visible the reality of the women assisted in these projects during the last year, to publicize the resources offered, as well as to have a source of information for the design of awareness-raising initiatives and socio-political support actions.

This document indicates a significant increase in the number of women who have been accompanied in social projects. In 2023, the projects of the Oblates of the Europe Province served a total of 7,970 women. This figure is 34% more than in 2022.

Of the total number of women served, 79.95% are in a situation of prostitution, 2.27% are victims of trafficking identified by the state security forces, 9.81% are possible victims and 7.97% are victims of other forms of violence or are in a situation of social hardship or exclusion.

From the text presented by the Oblates, it emerges that health problems have increased by 20.41% compared to the previous year and represents another of the great care needs of women.

The report shows that the main types of violence they suffer are sexual abuse and harassment, gender violence, attacks and threats, and sexual exploitation. Furthermore, the document indicates that the majority of women who suffer violence are undocumented migrant women in vulnerable situations, with family dependencies in their countries of origin.
