From September 4 to 8, the General Secretariat for Evangelization held its annual meeting, this time at the House of Perpetual Help in Madrid. In preparation for the mission year envisaged in the General Government’s Plan for the six-year period, the Secretariat conducted an analysis of the current situation of the Redemptorist mission, its trends, and its challenges. Some of these conclusions will be reflected in the communication on the mission that the General Government is preparing for 2025.
Likewise, the various committees that make up the Secretariat presented a report on their activities and plans. In addition, after receiving suggestions and comments from various units and conferences, Anne Walsh presented a report on the work of the Council reviewing the shared mission. It is expected that this review process will continue during the mid-sexennial meetings.
The meeting was chaired by Fr. Nicolas Ayouba CSsR, general consultor and head of the secretariat. The Redemptorist confreres Marcelino Cueto, Tadgh Herbert, Noel Sottima, Joterio Aghoja, Pawel Drobot, John Fahey, Javier Machado, Cristian Bueno and Anne Walsh, lay missionary of the Most Holy Redeemer (via Zoom) participated. The Community of Perpetual Help of Madrid was essential to the smooth running of this meeting because, in addition to the hospitality of the brothers and employees, it made available the resources and logistics of this house.
