The Redemptorist Missionaries of the Andean-Caribbean Province are pleased to announce the successful conclusion of our recent Theological Refresher Course: The Art of Reading the Sacred Text. It was held from September 9 to 20 at our Provincial House in La Soledad, Bogotá, Colombia. This event brought together fifteen confreres interested in deepening their understanding of the interpretation of God’s word.
Ana Francisca Guevara, Fray Wiliam Vásquez O.P., Fr. Luis Carlos Jaime Murillo C.Ss.R. and Fr. Jesús María Ortiz C.Ss.R. guided the participants in the interpretation of God’s word. Fr. Jesús María Ortiz led participants on a journey through the milestones of biblical interpretation, methods of textual analysis, and current challenges in exegesis.
What was achieved:
– Faith strengthening: participants gained tools for deeper, communal and personal reading of the Bible (Rom 10:17).
– Theological updating: the latest developments in the field of biblical studies were addressed.
– Spiritual enrichment: through practical exercises and communal reflection, a greater connection with God’s word was fostered.
