Fr. Vimal Tirimanna, CSsR, briefly accounts for the second week of the Synod on Synodality in Rome. Watch the interview on Scala News YouTube channel.

Father Vimal Tirimanna, a Redemptorist, is one of the non-episcopal voting members of the Synod appointed by the Pope. He is also a professor of Moral Theology at the National Seminary of Sri Lanka and at the Pontifical Alphonsian Academy, the Pontifical Urban University, and the Beda College in Rome.

While the discussion was halfway on the theme: “For a Synodal Church: Communion, Participation and Mission,” we present to our viewers a discussion on a short summary of the second week of the synodal assembly, some reflections on the second module of the working document, entitled ‘Reports’.

Father Vimal delved into ecumenism and the need for interreligious dialogue. He explained how Catholics can serve the mission of the Church. He also reflected on his understanding of the bishop’s authority in his diocese. Finally, Father Vimal stated that the Synod on Synodality continues to discuss the future of the Catholic Church, which is a roadmap when it comes to new peripheries.
