It was a fruitful discussion on the Theme: “For a Synodal Church: Communion, Participation, and Mission.”

Fr Vimal briefed us in the beginning with a summary of the Third week on the synodal assembly. He also reflected on the theme of places during this week, what are some of the fundamental points that arise from the Synodal discussions? Further we discussed the nature of parish that defined widely, not merely as a territory but stretched out more, due to mobility, movements to another parish, and the young people finding places on the internet, etc. Fr Vimal responses to are some of the new elements of a parish and how the church is present in the virtual continent.

The very purpose of Synod is to listen to the people who have chosen to be where they are! Fr. Vimal responds to the ways we need to do or witness Christ in these different/new spaces. Agenzia fides (part of the Pontifical Missionary Works since 1927) at the service of the Church in Mission, published Catholic Church Statistics 2024 which reveals a decrease of the Catholic population in the Europe. Fr Vimal responds to the declining aspect in Europe as well as increasing Catholic Population in other continents. It is important to discuss the issue as we celebrate the 98th World Mission on Sunday 20th October to know where we are as Church.

The Synod in Rome has completed its third week, which focused on governance and delegation of authority in the Church. Fr Vimal presents his views on topic. In one of the recent interviews, Archbishop Anthony Fisher, OP, of Sydney, says Faith cannot be REINVENTED, we need to have same faith, same moral church order, and same liturgy. We hear his comments.
