Invitation to send songs and poems about Blessed Peter Donders.

On October 27th, in Tilburg, we gathered to sing in honor of Blessed Peter Donders. We commemorated the fact that 215 years ago, Blessed Peter Donders was born in this city. Additionally, 80 years ago, in the same area, the liberation of Tilburg from German forces by Scottish soldiers began.

This jubilee serves as a motivation for two events that occur before the annual mass, which is celebrated twice in honor of Peter Donders: a lecture at the museum on October 13th and a peaceful walk for freedom and peace on October 26th, starting from the Chapel where Blessed Peter Donders would have prayed at his birthplace.

When we honor both Peter Donders’ earthly birth and his heavenly return, we will perform songs both during and outside the ceremonies. We have a variety of songs dedicated to Blessed Peter Donders in Dutch and one in German. However, the province of St. Clemens is currently in the process of merging with the provinces of Dublin and London, except for the province of Vienna-Munich.

As a result, in future international events, we will likely also perform in English. So, instead of writing a motivational piece today, I encourage you to draw inspiration from Blessed Peter Donders’ life in the upcoming months. You could write a poem, a song that can be easily sung to an existing tune, or a new song about Blessed Peter Donders.

We would be happy to receive texts as well as songs in any language spoken in the congregation, but English should not be missed out. So that on 14 January we can all sing on the occasion of the heavenly birth of Blessed Peter Donders – praising God for the example that the life of Peter Donders which gives to us and asking for his intercession.

Good work and with thankful hearts in advance to send us the results of your meditations to
