On October 19, 2024, Fr. Rogério Gomes, C.Ss.R., Superior General, met virtually with novices and professed students, in a dialogue focused on the present and future of the Congregation. During his intervention, Fr. Rogério stressed the importance of the sense of belonging, reminding the formees that the Congregation is their home and that their mission must be marked by a deep identification with the Redemptorist charism.

The Superior General emphasized several key points:

  1. Belonging and co-responsibility: He stressed the need to cultivate daily the sense of belonging to the Congregation, not in a passive way, but by contributing creativity and personal testimony.
  2. Adapting to change and listening: In a world of rapid change, Fr. Rogério encouraged us not to fear the future, stressing that the testimony of life and the ability to listen are essential to facing challenges.
  3. Consecration as a response to baptism: He recalled that religious profession is a radical response to God’s call, inviting young people to fully live their consecration and mission.
  4. Interpersonal relationship and spirituality: He stressed the importance of building bridges between generations within the Congregation and the need for a living and constant spirituality that sustains consecrated life.
  5. Fidelity to the poor and abandoned: Commitment to the poor, a central axis of the Redemptorist charism, was reiterated as a priority in the apostolic mission.

Fr. Rogério concluded with a call to live one’s vocation intensely, trusting in God’s grace and always maintaining a deep connection with the poorest and most abandoned.
