We, the Liguori Province in India began a new venture in our Social ministry programs, namely, “THE ALPHONSIAN SOCIAL SERVICE CENTRE” in Ezhacherry, Pala, Kottayam. This is an expansion of the social ministry that we started at Peter Donders’ Bhavan in Manathoor a year ago. A plot of land with a house and a hall has been donated for charitable purposes by Fr. Joseph Thayyil, a visionary and exceptional social worker. For the past one year, we have been providing a free mobile palliative program to roughly 170 families in the nearby Panchayaths.
We had the blessings of the residence by the Provincial Superior, Rev. Fr. Poly Kannampuzha, on Wednesday, November 13, 2024. The center was then formally inaugurated by Sri. Mani C. Kappen, the Pala MLA (Member of Legislative Assembly), during a public meeting. The presence of the ward members and the presidents of the local panchayaths added color the inauguration ceremony. We provide various social ministries, such as elderly care, counselling, ambulance service, palliative home care, etc.
