The Young Fathers Meet – 2024, of the Bangalore province was held from the 5th to 8th of November at Nava Spoorthi Kendra (NSK) Redemptorist Pastoral Centre, Bangalore. It was an enriching gathering of 15 young fathers committed to their mission and personal growth. This gathering, a blend of learning, introspection, and fellowship, offered these young priests a chance to share experiences, tackle challenges, and discover new tools for their ministry.

Day 1: Embracing Challenges and Celebrating Growth in Ministry

The gathering began with a Holy Eucharist presided over by Fr. Sharath. After Eucharist we had a reflective session led by Frs. Sharath, Sandeep, and Joe Abraham. The day focused on identifying three main challenges and three growth experiences encountered by each participant in their ministry journey. This session encouraged open dialogue, allowing each father to share his unique challenges and successes. The group discovered shared themes, from balancing pastoral duties and personal spirituality to engaging youth in meaningful ways. The atmosphere of trust fostered deep sharing, leaving each participant with valuable insights and a renewed sense of purpose.

Day 2: AI and Web Tools for Modern Missionaries

With technology evolving at an unprecedented pace, the second day delved into “AI and Web Tools for Modern Missionaries,” facilitated by Fr. Charles Vijay. The session explored the power of digital media and artificial intelligence in spreading faith, connecting with communities, and addressing pastoral challenges. Fr. Charles highlighted practical tools and AI resources that could simplify administrative tasks, enhance outreach efforts, and bring a fresh perspective to evangelization. The session sparked curiosity and discussions among participants, many of whom were eager to implement these tools in their own ministries.

Day 3: Courageous Voices – Overcoming Addictions

The third day took on a sensitive yet crucial topic with a session on Sexaholics Anonymous (SA). Representatives from SA courageously shared their personal journeys of overcoming addiction and reclaiming their lives. Their testimonies were powerful reminders of resilience and the grace of recovery. Many young fathers expressed their gratitude for this session, which opened a door to understanding addiction with compassion and highlighted ways to support those who might struggle in silence.

Day 4: A Day of outing with Laughter and Fellowship.

The final day was dedicated to Outing and fellowship, as participants embarked on a picnic, a perfect close to their days of learning and reflection. This time of togetherness strengthened bonds and allowed everyone to relax in each other’s company, deepening the sense of brotherhood.

Reflecting on Four Transformative Days

The Young Fathers Meet 2024 was a resounding success, providing these young fathers with a mix of guidance, support, and friendship. Through thought-provoking sessions and shared experiences, each participant left with new tools, renewed energy, and strengthened resolve for the mission ahead. These four days were indeed a journey of fun, fellowship, and transformative growth for all. We are indeed grateful to our Provincial and his team, for their continued support for the young fathers. A special word of thank you for Fr. Sarath C.Ss.R for all the arrangements done for this gathering.
