On December 14, 2024, the priestly ordination of Father Christopher Pérez Segovia took place in the Perpetuo Socorro Basilica in Santiago, Chile, at the hands of Monsignor Alvaro Chordi Miranda, Auxiliary Bishop of Santiago.
The Provincial Superior, Fr. Javier Machado, and the Provincial Council, which was holding its last meeting of the year in Santiago, were present. Priests, brothers and lay missionaries from the various countries that make up the Province also participated in the ceremony. The family of the young Christopher, his friends, and numerous religious and priests of the diocese were also present.
The following day, Sunday, December 15, Father Cristoforo celebrated his first Mass in the same Basilica, accompanied by several priests. The community thanked God for the life and vocation of Christopher, praying for his perseverance in ministerial service.
This event represented a significant moment for the presence of the Redemptorists in Chile, since it has been 12 years since a priestly ordination was celebrated in the missionary family. It is a sign of hope and renewed commitment for all of us, as it pushes us to pray, work and support the young people who feel the call to the priesthood.
May this new priestly ordination be an incentive for other young people to embrace this lifestyle, living their vocation with the Redemptorist Missionaries.
