On Monday, January 13, 2025, the General Commission for Brothers met online on Zoom. This was the first opportunity to welcome Brother Krzysztof Makowski, the new representative for the Conference of Europe. In addition, Brother Diego Vinicio Almeida, the new representative for the Conference of Latin America, also participated officially.
The Brother’s Commission meets at least 4 times a year on Zoom and once in person. Among the items discussed was a history project on the first brothers of the Congregation, as well as the plans for the Congregation-wide celebration for the 300th anniversary of the birth of our own brother, Gerard Majella. Many plans are being made with a year-long celebration in anticipation of the anniversary in April of 2026. We will begin the year in April of 2025. There will be a lot more information coming in the next months. The Commission believes this will be a great opportunity to highlight not only the life and virtues of St. Gerard but the vocation of the Redemptorist Brother as well.
This was the first Zoom meeting of 2025. The next meeting will be in person in Rome from March 31 to April 4, 2025. Stay tuned for more information from the Commission.
