The European Foundation for Ethical Study and Reflection (FUNDERÉTICA), which was born within the Congregation of the Most Holy Redeemer (CSsR), aims to be a channel that promotes ethical reflection in our society and to become a center for training, reflection and research in Philosophy and Moral Theology, from the criteria that provide the dignity of the person and the values that are inherent to him.
Rafael Junquera de Estéfani, professor at the UNED (Spain), Lay Missionary of the Most Holy Redeemer and President of the Board of Trustees of Funderética, writes to us to remember the birth of Funderética and the projects it develops:
In 2012 we began an exciting and ambitious project. It was a new institution born within the Congregation of the Most Holy Redeemer, in the Spanish province. We refer to the EUROPEAN FOUNDATION FOR ETHICAL STUDY AND REFLECTION, with the acronym FUNDERÉTICA.
Given the existence of a need to use civil associations to provide coverage, from the start, to the activities carried out by the ISCM (Higher Institute of Moral Sciences) and in order to make our voice heard in the structures of society through the study, research and reflection of Philosophy and Moral Theology, we saw the need to start this adventure. The objective has been to channel various projects that would represent a new way of approaching these reflections, having a deeper impact on society and at the same time accessing the different channels of public and private financing of foundation entities. ..//
We have been in existence for thirteen years now and our schedule for this period has been quite tight. We have undertaken this journey in collaboration with other institutions . . .//
During this time and with the collaboration and support of these organizations, we have initiated various projects and actions, among which we consider important to highlight:
- The International Classroom of Biomedicine, Ethics and Human Rights.
- Distance learning courses with the UNED Foundation (National University of Distance Education of Spain).
- Believer Forum of Ethical-Economic Thought (FCPEE).
- Ethical assessments of companies and institutions
- Evaluations of the economy of an entity in light of the Social Doctrine of the Church
- Publications: ETHICS NOTEBOOKS IN A DAILY KEY
- Courses on Morality and Bioethics
- Advice, coordination, organization, and implementation of Socio-Health Ethics Committees
- “+ Europe with values” project
- Project If my shoes could talk.
- Training Cycle on Ethical Leadership
- Forum of Conversations
- Collaboration with the Association for Solidarity (Redemptorist NGO):
For all these projects we rely on the collaboration of various individuals and some entities. As always, the biggest problem we encounter is the financing of our entity and all its activities. At the moment, with imagination and creativity we are managing to overcome the various challenges we face. Our intention is to make our voice heard in the society in which we move and offer a tiny glimpse of thought and ethical reflection from the Alphonsian charisma. For more information you can visit our website (http://funderetica.org/ ) or write to us at fundraising@funderetica.org .
From here, we want to offer our activity and projects to the entire Congregation of the Most Holy Redeemer. We are open to all possibilities of collaboration and invite you to participate as authors in our Collection of Notebooks on Ethics in Everyday Key.
