Today, 9 April, the Holy Father appointed as Bishop of Cajazeiras (Brazil) His Excellency Msgr. Francisco de Assis Gabriel dos Santos, C.Ss.R., until now Bishop of Campo Maior.
Curriculum vitae
S.E. Mons. Francis of Assis Gabriel dos Santos was born on February 5, 1968, in Esperanza, Diocese of Campina Grande, Paraíba. He studied Philosophy at ITEP – Theological and Pastoral Institute of Ceará, and Theology at ITESP – Institute of Higher Education.
He made his perpetual profession in 1999 and was ordained a priest on July 22, 2000.
He has held the following positions: Parish Vicar of Nossa Senhora do Perpétuo Socorro (2000-2002), Member of the Presbyteral Council of the Diocese of Garanhuns and Coordinator of the Central Pastoral Zone (2001-2002); Rector of the Redemptorist Postulancy Blessed Gaspar Stanggassinger (2003-2008), Parish Vicar of Nossa Senhora do Perpétuo Socorro (2004-2008) and of Nossa Senhora do Rosário (2004-2010); Rector of the Formation House Padre Pitiá in Recife (2008-2010); Councilor (2005-2007) and Vice Provincial (2011-2017) of the Redemptorists of Recife; Parish Priest of Nossa Senhora do Perpétuo Socorro, in Garanhuns (2011-2017) and Coordinator of the Pastoral of Communication of the Diocese of the city of the same name (2012-2017).
On June 21, 2017, he was appointed Bishop of Campo Maior, in the State of Piauí, receiving episcopal ordination on August 26. He is currently Vice President of the Northeast 4 Regional of the Episcopal Conference of Brazil.
