(Bratislava, Slovakia) Prayers, novenas, and songs devoted to Our Lady of Perpetual Help are now available in digital form from December 2018. The Congregation of the Most Holy Redeemer, the Redemptorists, who commemorated this week the 153th anniversary of the handing over of the icon to the Redemptorists by Pope Pius IX, officially presented the Slovak web application of Our Lady of Perpetual Help, called MUP.digital (MUP is Slovak abbreviation of the title Our Lady of Perpetual Help).
The MUP.Digital web application is optimized for mobile devices and contains all the texts that devotees of Our Lady of Perpetual Help know from brochures used in public novenas or in private devotions. In a simple menu, the history of the icon, the complete texts of the novena to Our Lady of Perpetual Help, reflections on the icon and also the Slovak Marian song K nebesiam dnes zaleť pieseň (May this song fly to heaven today) can all be found.
In the Prayers section, as well as basic prayers, there is the Litany to Our Lady of Perpetual Help and the prayers for the Holy Rosary prayed before the icon. Those who are driving or in public transport and would like to listen to some prayer, can click on the icon next to the name of the prayer and play a recording of it. The web application includes also the opportunity to send your requests and thanks to the community of the Redemptorists who pray the novena to Our Lady of Perpetual Help on a regular basis.
Pope Pius IX entrusted the icon of Our Lady of Perpetual Help to the Redemptorists on 11th December 1865 with the words: ‘Make her known all over the world’. Pope John Paul II, her great devotee, in June 1991 during his visit to the Church of Saint Alphonsus in Rome, encouraged Redemptorists and believers to deepen their respect for Our Lady of Perpetual Help. He ended his speech with the words: ‘Like the Child Jesus, whom we admire in this beautiful image, we want to hold your hand, Mother. You do not lack the strength or the goodness to help us in our every need. This is your hour! Come and help us; be our refuge and hope! Amen.’
