(Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso) The Redemptorists of the Vice-Province of West Africa held a formation program for young ordained confreres from 26th to 28th August. This formation took place in the formation house for students in philosophy of Saint John Neumann located in Ouagadougou. The total participants were 16 of which there were 9 priests those ordained for 4 to 5 years, 5 deacons and 1 acolyte.

Father Siméon Chabi BIAOU, C.Ss.R, conducted the program. It was about Canon Law based on the Redemptorist way of life and mission: ‘’the administrative acts of the sacraments’’. As Redemptorist Missionaries, beyond the necessity and the importance to deliver the various services needed. We are not only called to do things in this matter in the right way but also to express our pastoral charity towards the faithful of Christ by making all the documents available that may be needed. All these courses have been deeply rooted in canon law. Thus, it was a great opportunity to review our knowledge in the canonical approach of sacraments and to discuss many related pastoral practical issues.

As missionaries of mercy, we are strongly invited not to be harder than the canon law itself but without despising the law, we are called to be more merciful.
