Lent: a time to reflect on the Paschal Mystery of Christ

(Rome) Catholics worldwide prepare for Easter through the annual season of Lent that starts with Ash Wednesday. Lent is the holy season where the faithful are encouraged to strengthen their relationship with God by prayer, fasting, and almsgiving. This is the opportune time for us to make the Lenten journey with daily devotions. Each devotion could include a scripture reading, prayer, meditations, and a small act that will increase and strengthen our faith in the Lord. Therefore, we are called to commit ourselves to the faith we practice. The best way to observe the Lent is to Live the Lent. It is a 40-day challenge to truly live the Lenten season. The season calls us to explore the Bible, reflect on daily Mass readings and prayers and take actions based on the inspirations.

St. Alphonsus de Liguori, devoted to prayer and the passion of Christ the Redeemer, demonstrates how we can live our lives more fully for Jesus. During our Lenten journey, through the words of Saint Alphonsus and the daily Lenten actions, we are offered practical ways to follow the example of Saint Alphonsus and his abundant love for our crucified Savior, who died and rose from the dead to create us anew. As Redemptorists, engage in preaching missions; continue to proclaim the love, forgiveness, and mercy of our Loving God who redeemed us by dying on the Cross.

Some of the resources might be of help to live this Lenten season more meaningfully. Among the other proposals, we invite you to take advantage of “2020 Daily Redemptorist Lenten Reflections” in English or Spanish, prepared by our confreres from Province of Baltimore, USA.
