(Juiz de Fora, Brazil) In Alphonsian and vocational month, inspired by the theme: “If the heart does not burn, the feet do not walk…” with the motto: “Because you have anointed me to evangelize the poor (Lk. 4:18), the St. Clement Vocation Community and the Pre-Novitiate, located in Juiz de Fora (MG), experienced an opportune time for deepening Redemptorist Spirituality and vocational discernment: the First Redemptorist Missionary Vocation Week.
“In times of pandemic, since we could not experience the traditional mission of Holy Week nor could we participate in a Mission Week, the desire arose to live more intensely the month of our Father and Founder, St. Alphonsus Maria de Liguori, as well as the jubilee year of the patron of our house, St. Clement. Through a little of what would be a Redemptorist Missionary Vocation Week, we proposed to live the last week of August in a different rhythm, bringing to our daily activities a conviction that the first mission of the Christian begins in his own home,” said the graduates Luis Fernando (1st year of Philosophy) and Vinícius Alencar (3rd year of Philosophy).
With the house all adorned with posters, phrases, and ribbons, Mission Week was composed each day by different themes, the same as the Mission Week held in the parishes. The program was composed of Eucharistic celebrations, rosary, meditation of texts, moments of sharing and spirituality, reflections on Redemptorist saints’ life, and history. There was also a celebration of Light and the procession with the Cross. It was an opportune time of grace and deepening of vocation, responding to the Redeemer’s call.
