On February 2, we celebrate the XXVI World Day for Consecrated Life in the Church. On this occasion, the Prefect and the Secretary of the Congregation for Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life have written a special letter in which they stress that this day is a special opportunity to express gratitude to God for the joyful continuance in the vocation of so many men and women. Cardinal João Braz de Aviz and Archbishop José Rodríguez Carballo encouraged the active involvement of the whole Church in the ongoing synodal process.

The full text of the letter has been published on the Congregation’s website.

World Day for Consecrated Life was established 25 years ago by St John Paul II and is traditionally celebrated on February 2, on the Feast of the Presentation of the Lord. There are currently about 850,000 consecrated people in the world.
