In the joy of Easter, as practised through the past years, the Redemptorist Missionary Youth set out to visit the Van Kieu ethnic minority brothers and sisters in Huc Thuong, Khe Sanh, close to Laos bordering. In this way, young people responded again to Pope Francis’ call for the Church to reach out to the peripheries, particularly these ethnic minorities.
On the Second Easter Sunday, Fr Augustine Le Quy Phi CSsR, who is in charge of the Redemptorist Youth Ministry in the central region and of the National Redemptorist Youth Ministry as well, celebrated with young people the Feast of Divine Mercy with ethnic minorities – the Van Kieu people.
With the help of the benefactors, the young missionaries prepared small gifts that they gave out to express the Easter joy and their open hearts toward the people.
Practising this kind of apostolate helped the young people experience solidarity and love with those living in more difficult circumstances than theirs. The joy on their faces was a visible sign of the spirit of love and brotherly sharing.
On the evening of Monday, April 17th, 2023, the Redemptorist Youth gathered in the monthly mass to celebrate Easter with each other. From early on, they came to draw Easter eggs to give each other as gifts during the activity.
This monthly activity attracts many young people to the Parish of Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Hue City and students and seminarians from many areas who come to study in the city of Hue.
The monthly playground for the Redemptorist Missionary youth has become a gathering point for young people to learn about the Bible, human development, and life skills and build up friendships among themselves.
May the risen Christ, alive and young, as Pope Francis said in his apostolic exhortation Christus Vivit, always guide and accompany young people on their journey and stimulate them to be involved in apostolic works.
